Entrepreneurship success with clear thinking
N.R.Narayana Murthy, presently the Chief Mentor of Indian IT major Infosys, was asked recently: “What five things should young entrepreneurs do to succeed?”.
The gist of what he said in response was: Useful idea, Great team, Ready Market, Good Value System and lastly, Funding.
On the face of it, that is hardly anything new that a budding entrepreneur wouldn’t have heard of from somewhere else. Yet, what I found really interesting was how Murthy put forward his first advice: “You must have an idea whose value to the market should be expressible in a simple sentence, not a complex or a compound sentence.”
Simple sounding advice, but it is anything but that. Articulating a business idea (or a problem) in a simple sentence, no matter how complex it is, is possible only with crystal-clear thinking. It is a virtue that is often in short supply, with our almost natural tendency to clutter minds and complicate things.
This is one of the main reasons for Thought Perfect’s existence as an organization that provides entrepreneurship coaching. Our role is to help entrepreneurs retain or regain the invaluable discipline of clear thinking made visible through their actions as they take rapid strides in their entrepreneurship journey.
